10/31/02 -- More KOHD premieres - More KOHD film screenings for you! First,
the film will place on November the 4th and 8th at the Hawaii International Film
Festival. Visit this
page for complete details. Thanks, GK, for the link. The other one hasn't
been announced officially yet, so I was a little worried about reporting it. Hadcore
Hex reports that according to one of the staff, C-Kon
2002 (November 15-17) will be showing KOHD. It's not on the schedule yet, but chances are
that it will be part of the "premieres" block on the 16th. Oh yeah, Happy Halloween. :3
10/22/02 -- Changes for Adult Swim US - Come January, Adult Swim will expand
to 5 days a week. According to Toonzone,
Cartoon Network will drop the Saturday edition of the block and instead run from
Sunday to Thursday, once again mixing the action and comedy sides of the block:
"Comedy programming will run from 11:00 pm to midnight on Mondays to Thursdays,
with the newly acquired Futurama and the critically acclaimed Home Movies running
at 11:00 pm and 11:30 pm respectively. Action shows will run in the midnight hour,
rotating shows such as Inu-Yasha and Cowboy Bebop."
The Sunday block will remain similar to it's current state. My personal thoughts
on this change: I like the fact that the different sides of the block are mixed
again. To a certain degree, putting "action" and "comedy" on different nights
felt as though they were just trying to segregate the anime from the other animation.
What this doesn't leave much room for, in my opinion, are "accidents." By which
I mean, that Space Ghost fan who thinks that anime is crap accidentally leaving
the television on after SG and discovering the greatness that is Cowboy Bebop.
Or the other side of the issue, the anime fan who's waiting for CB turning to
Cartoon Network a little early and accidentally catching the last ten minutes
of Home Movies and realizing that yes, in fact, it's damn funny. Another possible
(though not perhaps probable) effect of this change is that animation (Japanese
or otherwise) that doesn't quite fit the "action" or "comedy" mold might get a
chance to be shown on the block. Pure speculation, of course, and most likely
William's Street has nothing at all in mind just now. Nevertheless, it's at least
a possibility now, something it wasn't before. Thanks to Skittle2021 for
pointing out Toonzone's article

9/27/02 -- Penfold, shush. - Well, that's the last time I put my posters
up for auction. ^^; The only thing I wish is that I hadn't printed the posters
in advance. I may end up giving those posters away on this site. Anyway, my real
update isn't to commiserate, but rather to mention that I've updated the video page to include information about the Best
Sessions, which includes an episode listing and a link to preorder.
9/25/02 -- Best Sessions and domestic CD box news. - Sorry I've been so
slow on CB news, it's just been nuts around here lately. Bandai put out a press
release recently about the Best Sessions DVD set that they're releasing. The
Best Sessions, as was mentioned here before, is a set of six episodes that have
been emixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound. DVDPlanet
and other online retailers already have it the Best Sessions up for pre-order.
Speaking of pre-orders, you may have noticed that certain online stores have two
versions of the Limited Edition CD Box Set.
You may have already heard this (I've been terribly remiss about reporting it,
but others haven't): there's going to be a domestic U.S. release of the CD box
in the US. The price doesn't seem greatly reduced (in fact, if you look at preorders
for the domestic box at Amazon.com, you'll
notice that it's actually more expensive than the Japanese version), and
as far as I know, nothing's been translated for the domestic box, but there is
an upshot to this. It means that domestic stores that don't carry imports will
start carrying the CD box. More exposure for CB music is a good thing. Notice
on the dates of both items: Best Sessions will be released on November 19,2002,
and the Limited Edition CD Box Set will be released in a couple of weeks on October
15.
9/23/02 -- C'mere and give me a KiSS - Surprise! I've got one more parting
birthday gift to everyone: a Spike KiSS doll. It's in the Fan
Art and Downloads sections of the site under
"other". If you don't know what a KiSS doll is or how to view it, check out The Big KiSS Page. Have fun.
:3
9/22/02 -- Gift art updates - The fan art page
has been updated with the birthday gift art I've recieved. Thanks, guys.
9/22/02 -- Contest winners - The winners of the Jazz Mess birthday giveaway
have been chosen. Check the contest page to find
out who won. I also have the answers to the trivia, if you're curious. ^_^
9/22/01 -- It was one year ago today. - We made it. A whole year of Jazz
Mess. Maintaining this site is not something I could have done alone. To me, most
of the really cool things on the site are the results of other people's work.
So, cliche as it seems, I'd like to take a moment to thank some of those people:
Tyler Loch, Nothing, Albright, Real
Folk Blues, Roger Smith, EK, LinusMines, JC, The Eye, Spike82, Living Fruit Virus, Matt Wilson, Outer Space Kid,
Asteroid Blues, David Lucas,
Wendee Lee, Design Paul Champagne, and everyone
else who has given advice, information, content, time, money, or server space
to Jazz Mess, or have offered to do so. You'd better believe that you guys are
what keeps this site together. :) The giveaway is now closed, by the by, so don't
bother trying to enter. I'll have the results of the drawings as soon as is humanly
possible.
9/20/02 -- Birthday gift art. #^_^# - Etoile sent me a gift art for the
Jazz Mess birthday. You can see it in the (all new) fan
art section. I've also added a search to the site, as you may have noticed
- it's up in the right hand corner of the front page. I'm debating whether it
should be on every page in the site or not. For now, if you want to do a search,
come to the front page and enter you query in the search box. It's an ad-based
search (since it's free), but considering how big the site has gotten (over 300
pages!) I figured it would be of help.
9/19/02 -- Destination films' official site updates with KOHD info. - There's
not a whole lot there yet, but the offical Destination films
website finally has some information about Cowboy
Bebop: The Movie (Destination films is the sub-company within Columbia/Tristar
under which they're releasing the film). To see their Cowboy Bebop information,
click on "in Theaters." Hopefully in coming months they'll include a list of cities
and an official opening date.
9/17/02 -- More posters, if you want 'em. - The posters I put up for auction
last week were popular enough that I thought I'd try it again: Spike,
Faye,
Jet.
9/15/02 -- You say it's your birthday (bah nah nah nah nah) - Exactly one
week from today, on September 22nd, this site will have it's first year birthday.
To celebrate, I'm going to have a Cowboy Bebop giveaway! To find out what the
prizes are and how to enter, click the link at the top of the front page.
