7/6/02 -- Further updates from AX -- It has been confirmed that Marc Handler,
the original ADR script writer for Cowboy Bebop, has been retained to do the film.
Also, other Animaze staff members are said to be working on the movie. This isn't
a confirmation of the entire cast, but it is nevertheless a good sign.

7/6/02 -- Very important news from Anime Expo - First: the dub of Knockin'
On Heaven's Door will premiere at the Big Apple Anime Festival
(August 30 - September 2). That's right, the dub. So in other words, whom
ever they're going to cast, has been cast. Here's hoping they made the right decision.
I'm going to go ahead and leave the cast petition and letter writing campaign
links at the top of this page, though, just in case. Second: the very first screening
of Columbia's subtitle of Knockin' On Heaven's
Door was screened at AX this week. According to those that saw it, the name
was not blotted out in any way. And of course, contrary to stupid, stupid
rumor, the music wasn't changed at all. Take that, AICN!! sources: VinceA, Micheal
Wilson, and the Anime on DVD forums.
7/3/02 -- URL change for the Cowboy Bebop.com archive - The archive of
Cowboy Bebop.com may now be found at Cowboy
Bebop.org. I would have preferred Cowboy Bebop.net, but some damn search engine
swiped that one. Anyway, I figured a domain name would make it easier to find.
Hopefully it won't be too confusing. If you have the page linked, I'd prefer you
using the CB.org address rather than the Jazzmess subdomain. It'll help in case
I ever need to switch hosts. *hint, hint*
6/30/02 -- Better late than never, right? - I dunno why I didn't post this
sooner. No, that's a lie. I know exactly why: laziness. Way back in May, a member
of rec.arts.anime.misc,
MC324525 (try saying that three times fast!) visited CN headquarters and made
some interesting
discoveries. A lot of it is stuff you'll aready know if you were paying attention,
but some of it has not been reported elsewhere. Among the more interesting observations
in the article are that CN was originally planning to show CB uncut (!) and that
one of the CN producers listens the Seatbelts. :)
6/29/02 -- The hilarity continues - *cackle* I never realized it, but even
the eye color works for this: Cowboy Bebop:
The Movie (by Matt Wilson) I
swear to god, if even one of you sends me an e-mail asking me if that poster is
for real, I'll, I'll. . . well, I dunno what I'll do, but I'm sure it will be
unpleasant! Back in the real world, Cowboy Bebop got a really interesting (and
funny) article on teevee.org. Rabid otaku
are advised to stay away. ;) "anime that even anime-haters enjoy", indeed.
6/28/02 -- Pay attention, this is important! - I've decided to start a
letter writing campaign to try to convince Columbia
Tristar to hire the original English dub cast. I'm seriously starting to worry
about the situation. Columbia's continued silence is not a good sign. If you care
about this issue at all, please send C/TS a letter. I'm going to keep the links
to the online petition and the letter writing campaign at the top of this page
until Columbia announces the dub cast.
6/27/02 -- alt.anime.cowboy-bebop There's a perfectly good news group going
to waste on Usenet: alt.anime.cowboy-bebop. I think we should use it. So come
visit sometime, OK? from now on, every news report that I post here will be posted
there as well, to promote discussion. Come visit sometime. I'll make a page up
about it when I have the time (to send people there). For a rationale behind using
a newsgroup, read my thread about this in the forum.
Incidentally, newsgroups are not replacements for message boards; I'm still keeping
the forum up (of course!), I would just like to propagate alt.anime.cowboy-bebop
as well.
6/25/02 -- New tracks up - It's going to take me a while to write pages
for all the new tracks, so I went ahead and uploaded them for your listening pleasure
in the meantime. They can be found here. I'll only have them up
like that for a short time, so don't count on being able to go to that directory.
Of the new tracks, I particularly recommend: Waste Land,
On The Run,
Poor
Faye (Lip Cream) and Sax
Quartet. Have fun! (just not too much fun. . . I still have bandwidth limits,
after all. ^_^;)
6/23/02 -- Cowboy Bebop: The Movie?! Goddamnit. . . - From Anime
News Service:
Daniel has obtained the following from the Egyptian Theater (Hollywood) Catalog:
The Cowboy Bebop movie will be showing Sunday August 11 at 5 p.m. at the Egyptian
theater in Hollywood. As mentioned earlier, the title has been changed from "Knockin
On Heaven's Door" to simply "Cowboy Bebop: The Movie". It will be presented in
Japanese with subtitles. Running time seems to be 120 minutes, which is around
the same time as Jonah's R2 version; thus no content should be edited post-9/11
as rumoured. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the original in raw or fansubbed format,
and I can't make it to see this version. Therefore, if there's anyone else who
has seen the film and who can make it, feel free to do so and report on anything
that could be edited. (such as the rumoured Yoko Kanno music).
I second the motion; if anyone makes it to this showing, please, please take notes
and send in a report. As for Yoko Kanno's music being edited, personally I'm not
a bit worried about it. I saw the original "report" about that on AICN; the story
was full of holes and the source was far from reliable. It does seem to be the
case that they're renaming the film to "the movie" instead of "Knockin' On Heaven's
Door", though. >_< Thanks to Roger Smith for pointing out this news to me.
6/23/02 -- It's here, and it's fantastic. My CD box set arrived! W0000000000T!
CHA-CHING! And other hyper-active expressions! I'll get the tracks up as soon
as may be. I'm encoding them as we speak. I also fixed the schedule from my last
update to reflect what's happening June the 29th. Don't know how I forgot it before.
6/22/02 -- Another entry for the "You Probably Should Have Reported This Sooner"

If you're trying to watch CB in order, I've bolded the three episodes you need
to watch to keep up. If you've never seen CB before, I advise against watching
the marathons. For those of you who have seen it before though, the first "core
plot" marathon could be interesting (I've never watched the episodes in that way
before, so I think I'll watch that marathon myself).
