There are actually quite a few songs titled "Wild Horses", but I'm pretty
sure this is a reference to the song by the Rolling Stones.
The bounty heads this time are named "George", "Herman" and "Ruth" - Babe
Ruth's full name, minus the nick. ;) Many thanks to the ever fabulous Lim
the Skit (of the Unofficial Adult Swim website's forum) for cluing
me in.
Miles' favorite baseball team, the Blue Sox, is based on the Red Sox.
I had thought about this one before, but I wasn't really sure about it until
a few people e-mailed me about it. Doohan seems to be a Start Trek references;
that is, his name comes from James Doohan, the actor who portrayed Scotty
on the original Star Trek. Also, Miles, and the guy who sells spare space
ship parts, are named after Star Trek characters - Miles O'Brien and Reggie
Barkley; all three are references to Star Trek engineers. Considering all
the Trek references, it's also very plausible that Miles was based visually
on Geordi LeForge, yet another ST:TNG engineer.
Miles looks to be wearing one of Ed's smileys as a pin on his vest.
The space shuttle that Doohan rebuilt is the US Columbia, the first shuttle
to be sent to space. A brief history of the shuttle may be found here.
If you notice any references that I missed, I would appreciate
it if you e-mail me.
