"My Funny Valentine" is the title of a song by Rogers and Lorenz. It was
also played by the Miles Davis Quintet, which is probably more to the point
since we're talking bebop, here.
Simon Oxwell pointed
out to me that Faye's cryo tube has two references on it. In the upper left-hand
corner is written the serial number for the USS Enterprise. Also, the date
on it is the twenty-third of November, which is the day the first episode
of "Dr. Who" was screened.
The character of Whitney was based visually on George
Clooney. No lie.
Not exactly a reference, but if you watch the scene where Faye tries to
flag a car down after escaping from the hospital, you'll notice that Jet's
Hammerhead is the one that passes her by! That is, either it's Jet's Hammerhead,
or a vehicle that looks exactly like it. ;) I don't think that that was by
accident.
During the chase scene after Faye and Whitney's date, one of the cars that
Whitney nearly hits is Lupin the III's little yellow car! Really, watch "The
Castle of Cagliostro" and see if I'm not right.
If you notice any references that I missed, I would appreciate
it if you e-mail me.
